If you are insecure about your smile due to missing teeth, then dental implants may be a procedure you should consider. Dental implants are a great permanent solution to tooth loss. They are man-made roots that crowns can be place on top of and that will function just like natural roots. The strong titanium posts of implants will ensure your replacement teeth with have a lasting foundation.
Because your replacement teeth will be anchored to man-made roots, you will enjoy restored function of your teeth and mouth. You no longer will have to avoid hard-to-chew food, which are often some of the most nutritious foods we eat, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Speech can also be affected by missing teeth or poorly fitting dentures. Your dental implants can help to improve your speech and your confidence.
Dental implants can also make you appear younger. Missing teeth can cause bone degeneration, shifting of remaining teeth, and ultimately the inward caving of your cheeks and lips. This can add years to your appearance. The permanent foundation of dental implants will add structure to your mouth and lower face, giving your facial features a plumper, more youthful look. Furthermore, implants are the only tooth replacement technology that will not eventually result in bone loss. In fact, dental implants can help your bone structure strengthen and cause bone mass to increase.
Unlike dentures and bridges, which require extensive upkeep, your new implants will be easy to clean and maintain. Just like natural teeth, they require only brushing and flossing! Before dental implants, bridges were the only method available for individual tooth replacement. Bridges require the filing down of the teeth bordering the missing tooth—affecting the health of your remaining teeth. However, with dental implants, your healthy teeth do not need to be compromised.
Whether you are missing one tooth or all of your teeth, Dr. Ted Smith and his team can use implant dentistry to repair your smile and help you to regain your confidence. Don’t let missing teeth affect your smile; call Dr. Ted Smith’s office today to set up a free consultation appointment.
What is the dental implant procedure?
Prior to the dental implant procedure, Dr. Ted Smith will evaluate your bone structure of your jaw to ensure that it is adequate for the procedure. If your bone structure is insufficient, a bone graft or a sinus lift may be necessary before implants can be placed. The implant is typically placed where the root of the missing toot used to be. Titanium is used as it is one of the most effective metals at fusing with living bones. This procedure is minimally invasive and our team is committed to ensuring your comfort. After the procedure, the implants will integrate with your bone over a four to six month period, creating the permanent foundation for your new teeth. During your healing period, we will be working to create crowns to place on top of the titanium implants. Customizing shape, size, color and translucency, your new teeth will be customized to look completely natural and blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth. We promise that your implants will perfectly fit you and give you the dazzling smile you have always wanted. When the healing process is complete, Dr. Ted Smith will attach the handcrafted crowns to the posts and your new smile will be complete and ready to show off. Dental Implants can be life changing.
